Our new hosting platform, built from the ground up, combines latest available hardware, software and technologies to provide you with a great future-proofed hosting service with fantastic new features and capabilities. The migration process will take place over the coming weeks with the key stages detailed below. Please be sure to familiarise yourself with all the information provided in this email. Whilst we will endeavour to make this process as seamless and trouble-free as possible you may need to prepare for any changes or tweak a few settings to complete the process.

Stage 1) 7th July 2014 - Account Migration and Control Panel Removal

Your services will not be altered or affected, During this process you may be emailed a new account number, details pertaining to accessing the new Hosting Control Panel purpose built for the new hosting platform.

Stage 2) 13th July 2014 - Email Service Migration

On the evening of Sunday 13th July 2014 we will migrate your email services to the new platform. Whilst this is underway you may lose access or experience intermittent instability with your email services until this work is completed by the following morning, indicated by a further email confirming the same.

IMPORTANT: Immediately following the migration, your mailbox may appear to be missing some recent email and/or address book contacts, however rest assured these will be restored soon after.

IMPORTANT: The new platform requires mailbox access using the following mail server details. These should not differ from those details you are already using to access your mailbox. However please ensure your email client/mobile device is set to use these and update them accordingly if they do differ.

Webmail: http://mail.yourdomain (e.g. http://mail.joebloggs.com)

Inbound Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g. mail.joebloggs.com) Inbound Mail Server Type: POP3 or IMAP

Outbound Mail Server: mail.yourdomain (e.g. mail.joebloggs.com) Outbound Mail Server Type: SMTP

Username: Your mailbox's full email address, including the @domain part.
(e.g. joe@joebloggs.com)

Password: Your mailbox password.

POP3 or IMAP
These are the two different mail collection methods available.

When connecting with POP3, email messages are downloaded locally and then removed from the mail server. When connecting with IMAP, email messages are kept on the mail server, keeping all connecting devices/clients (including webmail) synchronised.

Advanced Settings
[*] In order to be able to send email from your desktop email client, outgoing authentication is required. Ensure the advanced setting outgoing server requires authentication is enabled. In most cases this setting not being enabled is the sole cause of email service difficulties.

[*] Any SSL / TLS related settings should not be enabled.

[*] Although they should not be required, the mail server port numbers are as follows:

POP3: 110 IMAP: 143 SMTP: 25 (or 587 if your ISP blocks 25)

Stage 3) 20th July 2014 - Website and DNS Service Migration

On the evening of Sunday 20th July 2014 we will migrate your website and domain DNS services to the new platform. Whilst this is underway you may lose access or experience intermittent instability with your website services until this work is completed by the following morning, indicated by a further email confirming the same.

IMPORTANT: The new platform requires FTP access using the following FTP server details, these should not differ from those details you are already using to access your websites' webspace. However please ensure any remembered connections setup in your FTP client are set to use these and update them accordingly if they do differ.

FTP Server: ftp.yourdomain (e.g. ftp.joebloggs.com)
Port: 21
Mode: Passive (PASV)
Public Home Directory: /wwwroot/
Username: Your FTP user username.
Password: Your FTP user password.

IMPORTANT: The earliest version of PHP supported by the new platform is v5.3.27. The current Hosting platform allowed the use of an older version of PHP for compatibility reasons (v5.2). However this version is several years old, unsupported and therefore cannot exist on the new platform. Following the migration, you must thoroughly check and test any PHP based websites you are hosting for compatibility with the upgraded PHP version. In the cases of off-the-shelf PHP web software such as WordPress blogging software and Joomla content management software this is more than likely a simple case of updating those to their latest versions.

IMPORTANT: The new platform cannot support Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions as this is an old technology which is over 10 years old and became unsupported by Microsoft around 3 years ago. Although websites created with Microsoft FrontPage Designer will still continue to function as they did before, you will no longer be able to publish them using FrontPage Publishing. As always, these websites can now be published via conventional FTP (also supported by the Microsoft FrontPage Designer).

IMPORTANT: ODBC Data Source Names (DNSs) are not supported on the new platform. In the unlikely event your website relies on an ODBC DSN for its database connection it will be unable to connect to the database following the migration. Please ensure ODBC DSN based connection strings are replaced with their ODBC DSN-less based equivalent to avoid any related problems that would otherwise arise. A recommended resource for all things database connection string related can be found at http://www.connectionstrings.com/.

Stage 4) 27th July 2014 - Database Service Migration

On the evening of Sunday 27th July 2014 we will migrate your database services to the new platform. Whilst this is underway you may lose access or experience intermittent instability with your database services (and anything relying on the database services such as website services) until this work is completed by the following monday, indicated by a further email confirming the same.

IMPORTANT: Following the migration the facility to access database services externally will still be exist but their connection hostnames will have changed. The new Hosting Control Panel will provide the new connection details required for each individual database if you are using this facility. As part of the database service migration, hosted website configuration files and connection strings will be automatically updated to reflect the new connection details.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the migration and thank you for using our services for so many years. Ultimately the changes we're making now will improve your services for many more years to come.

OUR SUPPORT SYSTEM WILLL NOT BE WORKING FULLY UNTILL THE FINAL DATABASE STAGE IS COMPLETED ON MONDAY 4TH AUGUST!!
